As the ship navigated under Tower Bridge, a historic landmark, the bridge opened up, creating a breathtaking sight. Even the typically busy London drivers paused to capture the moment, a testament to the ship's allure.
The Star Pride's design and amenities were a delightful surprise. My cabin, with its nautical theme, felt fresh and inviting. The queen-sized bed, spacious lounge, and walk-in wardrobe created a home-away-from-home feel. And the inclusion of an onboard spa, with its relaxing facilities, was a welcome luxury.
During the cruise, we explored charming European destinations. From the canals of Ghent, offering a quieter Amsterdam-like experience, to the food tasting tour of Antwerp, where I discovered the art of Belgian waffles. Each stop provided a unique and enriching experience.
Evenings on the Star Pride were equally captivating. We gathered at the Compass Rose bar for pre-dinner drinks and enjoyed live entertainment, including a talented saxophonist. The culinary offerings were exceptional, with fresh breakfasts, atmospheric dinners at Candles restaurant, and the new pan-Asian and Mediterranean venue, Basil and Bamboo, being my personal favorite.
The crew's talent show on the final night was a delightful surprise, showcasing the diverse skills of the staff who had served us so well throughout the week. It was a heartwarming way to end our journey.
As we returned to London, passing through the Thames Barrier and back under Tower Bridge, the view took on a new significance. It was a reminder of the unique perspective a cruise offers, allowing us to appreciate familiar landmarks from a fresh angle.
